InI want to lay out the fullness of the Rastafari treasury for Australian people who are curious or searching the Rastafari supraject (His Majesty is not sub-ject (below anyone or thing). He is the Ras, the Head, to be Respected – Rastafari! Selassie is Supreme.
We live in a time where that country- -like the rest of the world- is in a state of confusion. This is especially true in the political area, but more so in the cultural and spiritual. InI, who have been born or grown on the Great Southern Land, testify to the desert of soul that we inhabited here (as InI are in exodus from that state, we no longer inhabit the same territory of our nativity, rather are in flux). For us, the particular history of colonial Australia has left deep hidden scars on the psyche of this people, both Black and White.
InI prescription for this Australiam mallaise is Black medicine. It is African herbs, yes, but not cannabis alone.
The true medicine is the Black Christ of Nazareth.
He is the reality that White Australia denies, or hides, or ignores. And His identity in Spirit and in Truth is the key to the reconciliation of Black and White Australia. The damage done by proclaiming the Roman antichrist and taking Aboriginals especially into the spiritual slavery of Christian-isms has damaged the potential of a very psychoactive people to find the Black Saviour. This is much the same as what happened to Africans during colonial times. They forgot that Christ is their brother, out of Egypt, a kinky-haired Afro-Asiatic village boy running around with no shoes for most of his life. They started to think they needed Europeans to heal their souls (saviour is the healer, the true bush doctor).
Above: Ebony wood carved Christ statue from East Africa.
So with that, I’d like to expound on Rastafari for the benefit of seekers in the Southern Land and give you a window into Rastafari as InI understand. As we lacked direct resources to answer our questions at the beginning of our search, these are the most common misconceptions of the Reality That We Live (otherwise called religion by Gentiles) and we’ll try to channel them into their relevance for contemporary Australia. Hopefully InI won’t go too long on this blog because there are many subjects to cover here.
Q: Do Rastafarians believe in the Bible?
A: Yes, InI proclaim the same thing that His Imperial Majesty proclaims “InI Glory in the Bible”
The King says –
“WE IN ETHIOPIA HAVE ONE OF THE OLDEST VERSIONS OF THE BIBLE, but however old the version may be, in whatever language it might be written, the Word remains one and the same. It transcends all boundaries of empires and all conceptions of race. It is eternal.
No doubt you all remember reading in the Acts of the Apostles of how Philip baptised the Ethiopian official. He is the first Ethiopian on record to have followed Christ, and from that day onwards the Word of God has continued to grow in the hearts of Ethiopians. And I might say for myself that from early childhood I was taught to appreciate the Bible and my love for it increases with the passage of time. All through my troubles I have found it a cause of infinite comfort.
“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” who can resist an invitation so full of compassion?
Because of this personal experience in the goodness of the Bible, I was resolved that all my countrymen should also share its great blessing and that by reading the Bible they should find truth for themselves. Therefore, I caused a new translation to be made from our ancient language into the language which the old and the young understood and spoke.
Today man sees all his hopes and aspirations crumbling before him. He is perplexed and knows not whither he is drifting. But he must realise that the Bible is his refuge, and the rallying point for all humanity. In it man will find the solution of his present difficulties and guidance for his future action, and unless he accepts with clear conscience the Bible and its great Message, he cannot hope for salvation. For my part I glory in the Bible.“
Q: Don’t you have to be an African to be a Rastafarian?
A: No. His Majesty was clear that “We must become members of a new race, overcoming petty prejudice, owing our ultimate allegiance not to nations but to our fellow men within the human community.”
He also said in this speech that He has no part in colourisms:
What is most important is that InI keep grounded in the sacred scriptures and in Christ HIMself. Therefore we see through the shallow depths of skin pigment. We only emphasize Christ’s Black colour because this world is hell bent on denying and covering that up. Nobody needs to emphasize Buddah’s Indian-ness because people are aware Sidharddhia Buddha was an Indian. If people denied that for 1500 years we would have to emphasize it until the world accepted the truth of his ethnicity. “White” in the sense of leprous (biblical definition of leper is someone with no melanin skin pigment) is valid on the physiology and spiritual significances of the manifestation – losing colour equalled losing grace, and soul. White culture is Gentile culture. White religion is Gentile religion. White science is Greco-Roman science. As we overstand the Bible to be a Black book – an African scripture, we look to its roots in Kemet Ancient Egypt and Ethiopia. “White” is a mark that the thing so-called has lost its Adamic nature (Adam means ‘from red earth’) and is no-longer natural or “red/black”
Q: How can Haile Selassie be God if the Bible says Jesus Christ is God?
A: The Bible is clear in Revelation 5:5 that the Lamb comes to sit in the midst of the throne and Christ will return as the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah! If you lack spiritual eyes you will not see through the multidimensional book of Revelations, or even the entire scriptures, just like someone who lacks focus can’t perceive the depth of a stereogram. It takes time, serious meditation, and a willingness to abandon your programming and let Jah teach you His reality. “Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you!”
Haile Selassie means “Power of the Trinity”. Christ has come in His Glory/Power. The Father testifies of the Son just as the Son testified of His Father. The Two are One. It is spiritual, metaphysical psychobiology and physiology, otherwise known as ‘Tewahedo‘ in the Ethiopian Geez language.
